Meet the Farmer

My name is Teddy, and I’m a native Long Islander with a deep passion for sustainable agriculture. I went vegan in 2014, which sparked my interest in the food system and led me to pursue a master’s degree in sustainable food systems in Rome in 2019. Since 2021, I’ve been farming on Long Island—starting at Jamesport Farmstead, then Treiber Farms, and now at my own spot, Zafferano Farm. I specialize in no-till, intensive, and environmentally conscious farming. In addition to farming, I serve as the NYS Lead Educator for NOFA-NY, working to spread organic knowledge across the state. My goal is to reconnect communities to their food, promote food sovereignty, and build a truly sustainable food system on Long Island.
